4.8  SEXUAL REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM 

OF FLOWERING PLANTS

1. Firstly, let us review the plant life cycle.

4.9  POLLINATION

What's Pollination?

Pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from an anther to a stigma
with the help of a pollinating agent.

→ Type of Pollination

1. Self-Pollination
 Pollen grains are transferred from one anther to the stigma
 of the same flower or another flower of the same plant.

2. Cross-Pollination
Pollen grains are transferred from one anther to the stigma of the same 
flower or another flower of the same species (different plant). 

→ AGENTS OF POLLINATION

1. Before we get to know the different agents of pollination, can you first list out the agents of pollination that you know? :)

2. Nice job! Now try state the agents of pollination by viewing the pictures given. 

 Thus, the agents of pollination includes :-

4.10 THE DEVELOPMENT OF FRUITS
AND SEEDS IN PLANTS

→ Fertilisation in Plants

→ The Formation of Fruits and Seeds

After fertilization :

Ovary develops →  Fruit.

Zygote in the ovule develops → An Embryo.

The Ovule → Seed.

Notes:

*Fruit protects the seed during development.

*The other parts(petals,sepals, stigma, stamen) will degenerate and drop off.
